Artis Demont Jones was born in Montgomery County to Elizabeth Louise Jones and Harvey Garrett. He attended school in the Winona Public School system and later completed his education at J.Z. George School in Carrollton, Mississippi after moving to Carroll County. He was reared in Winona and later in Vaiden by his mother and stepfather, Johnathan Murphy. As a young child, Artis attended Hays Creek M.B. Church in Winona, MS. Artis was well known in the community and enjoyed mingling with his family and friends. Tragically, his earthly life ended on Monday, November 14th, 2016.

Arits was united in holy matrimony to Jacqueline Berry on March 4, 2014 and moved to Greenwood, MS. He lated relocated to Winona,MS.

Artis leaves to forever cherish his memories his wife, Jacqueline B. Jones, loving mother, Elizabeth Jones and Stepfather, Johnathan Murphy, father, harvey Garrett, three sisters, Gina Reshelle Jones, Adrienne Butts, and Ciearra Nash, four brothers, Travis Dewayne Jones, Fredrick Demond Jones, Cortez Butts, and Jeffery Butts, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and other family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
