Shern Miller Obituary

Shern L. Miller was born on November 5, 1969, in Brooksville, MS to Willie L. Miller and Amelia A. Miller. At an early age, Shern accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and became a baptized believer and member of Brownridge M.B. Church of Crawford, MS under the pastorageof the late Reverend J.H. Cockrell.

During his years of education, he was a proud 1987 graduate of Motley/West Lowndes High School of Columbus, MS. At the age of 17, Shern enlisted in the United States Army. He valued this service highly and during his service he obtained a bachelor's degree in business administration from Devry University. As part of his service, he served in Operation Desert Shield/ Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. While serving he received the following medals: Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, South West Asia Service Medal, South West Asia Service Medal with Bronze Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star. After serving his 27 years in the United States Army, he then retired in January 2014 with the rank of Sergeant.

On Thursday July 4, 2024, the Lord called Shern Miller home to eternal rest. Shern is preceded in death by his father, the late Willie L. Miller Sr., his siblings Larry L. Miller, Willie L. Miller Jr., and Tina Johnson. Shern leaves to cherish his memory; his loving and devoted wife, LaSandra D. Miller of Columbus, MS; his five sons lomarris (Melody) Jones of Rock Hill, SC;

Miller Jr. of Fayetteville, NC; Eric (Tatiana) Powers of Columbus, MS; DeMarquis Miller of Columbus, MS; Christoper Edwards of Kennesaw, GA; his 3 daughters Shalita (Charles) Cistrunk of Louisville, MS; Alexis Miller of Columbus, MS; Kayla Powers of Columbus, MS; his fifteen grandchildren; Braxton Jones, Emily Jones, Madyson Beard, Ame'Llyan Bankhead, Arianna Bankhead, A'Leah Cistrunk, Ashton Cistrunk, Emoree Powers, Skylar Powers, Aceyn Powers, DeMarquis Miller Jr., Omarion Hood, Ja'Dien Hood, Kennidi Miller, his right hand-man Tabias "T.J" Profiet; his mother Amelia A. Miller of Columbus, MS; his siblings Daryl K. Johnson of Columbus, MS; Monica L. (Tony) Taylor of, Wilbert (Betty) Rogers of West Point, MS; Henry L. (Angela) Miller of Columbus, MS; Carolyn Monroe of Crawford, MS and a host of relatives and friends.
